Answers before the first call.
What is an external commercial borrowing (ECB)?
An ECB is a loan raised by an eligible Indian borrower from a recognised offshore lender, governed by the applicable regulatory framework covering eligible borrowers, end-use, minimum average maturity, all-in cost ceiling and reporting.
When does offshore debt beat onshore debt?
When the all-in cost after hedging is lower, when tenor requirements exceed onshore appetite, or when the end-use — capex, refinancing, overseas acquisition — is better matched to offshore lenders.
Do you handle the regulatory filings?
We structure the transaction and coordinate with your legal and authorised dealer counterparties on LRN, drawdown and periodic reporting. Statutory filings remain with your appointed advisers.
